Katie Harbath and Mindy Finn: Social Media Showdown
Meet Katie Harbath. Meet Mindy Finn.
Katie is an Associate Manager at Facebook and Mindy works for Twitter.
Two of social media’s leading ladies, Harbath and Finn have been proven industry experts for years. They’re also a couple of the nicest people you’ll meet in DC.
Before their work at Facebook and Twitter, Katie and Mindy worked together at the RNC. Afterwards, they went their separate ways, each to head up digital operations for top presidential contenders. Katie worked for Mayor Rudy Giuliani while Mindy headed to Team Romney. Years later, they’re still on different teams, but have enormous respect for each other.
With Facebook and Twitter at full-force this election cycle, we figured we’d reunite the two for a social media showdown.
New Kid on the Beltway: 20-Something And Nowhere To Go
A few Fridays ago, I decided to have a low-key evening and see a movie. It had been ages since I’d seen a movie on a Friday night, but I didn’t realize just how many ages it had been until I got there. I bought my ticket for the R-rated flick and proceeded to walk toward the nacho stand (and whatever else they might sell there) when I overheard something dismaying. The cashier at the ticket booth asked someone for their ID to see the same movie that I was seeing. He didn’t ask me for my ID! Do I not look like I am still in high school? I was just in high school. But then I looked around and noticed that the joint was lousy with teenagers. Through the dense fog of Abercrombie and Fitch cologne I reached clarity. I had not just been in High School. And don’t get me wrong, that is A-OK with me. I don’t miss being that scrawny kid with the gap-toothed smile. But it did get me thinking. Where do I fall in what I like to think of as a spectrum of maturity; and more importantly, how does that affect my nightlife?
All Hallows Eve Took Over Hill Country
Hill Country was rockin’ Saturday night with John Murray & Doug Davenport’s All Hallows Eve, an underground concert featuring Godsmack’s Sully Erna and his new band. Only the Monster Mash was missing from Erna’s amazing 90 minute set in front of more than 200 folks. In addition to the music, the evening’s open bar, spooky decor and Capitol Hill’s finest dressed in costume made the night a blast. Here’s to next year.

Fantasy Rant: Week 5
I’ve got be honest with you people, I’m not all that angry this season. You see, I’ve got a winning record in every single one of my leagues and I’m undefeated in one of them. I feel like the Cubs in the World Series at this point. Like butter at Thanksgiving, I’m on a roll. The bad part is that I can’t explain why. I’m assuming I’m just lucky.
Here we go.
Happy Hyperlinked Hangover, Hill
Top of the afternoon! Wash your ugly mug. Tune inn to channel 201 for some wisdom and ease your pounding headache. You had quite the lavish dinner with the Hamiltons last night–pushing you closer to a fiscal cliff. You just now remember the Remingtons arriving late, dubling the tab. That’s bull, you recall; so no more of that. You, of course, had to extend it to a late …

FamousDC’s 2012 Media Ticket
Fellow Americans, it has been four years since our last election. In those four years our country has experienced great highs; the death of the Osama bin Laden, the premiere of Glee, the rollout of the new Congress.gov and the Nats making it into playoffs. But we have also experienced the lowest of lows; the Salahi divorce, NFL replacement officials, the closing of the Hawk and Dove, Cap Lounge burning down [again] and Metro’s continued single tracking.
As November approaches, we’re often reminded that nothing is more vital to the future of our country than who we elect into office. So while the campaign rhetoric heats up these next few weeks, ask yourself: Are politicians really the best suited to straighten out our country? Or can we do better? What if instead of electing politicians, we allowed the Fourth Estate to run the country? The people who know more about the political process than those actually running for office.
Without further ado, we present to you the 2012 FamousDC Media Ticket.
