What happens when you cram five twenty-somethings into the same house, all with the same goal in mind – each with easy access to booze, all of whom love late nights and wild times? Well, usually a combination like that spells trouble, hangovers and sometimes these – but for one group of tech savy DC residents, it spells something much, much different.
It spells a virtual orgy. [lube up]
The New York Times recently featured an article about the young and restless lives of a few very successful DC bloggers. What will be surprising to most who read this article – these citizen journalists don’t live in their parent’s basement – even scarier than that, they live together. And that’s exactly how they like it.
According to one keyboard pundit:
“This hyper-living and hyper-linking can get silly at times.”
So silly indeed it’s probably only a matter of time until other bloggers are lining up to live in the self-proclaimed “flophouse.”
I mean, why wouldn’t you when things like this are happening:
Sometimes, Mr. Capps will send an instant message to signal when dinner is ready. Or, as Becks explained, “We’ll all be in the same room having meta-conversations online about conversations going on in the room, a running commentary on the other conversations.”
Oh, and if you’re wondering as to whether these socially sophisticated blog-maniacs are using protection – don’t worry, they are – they have “two surge protectors” according to the article.
