A big congratulations to longtime producers Sarah Baker and Jesse Rodriguez, on their recent promotions to directors of booking for MSNBC. Baker will stay in D.C. as the lead for guests and contributors and Rodriguez is heading to New York to focus on high-profile guests for prime time programs; U.S. Chamber of Commerce veteran Amy Travieso is joining the American Hotel & Lodging Association as vice president of government affairs. Travieso most recently was a director for congressional and public affairs at the Chamber, and before this spent nearly nine years as deputy chief of staff to Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX); After fourteen years with the Wall Street Journal, deputy technology editor Christina Passariello is joining the Washington Post as its new technology editor; Salvador Rizzo is also joining the Washington Post as deputy fact checker. Before this, Rizzo was the New Jersey politics editor for the Observer; The Hill’s cybersecurity reporter Joe Uchill is making moves to Axios in February, at which point The Hill’s cybersecurity coverage will be led by Morgan Chalfant; Michael Byerly, most recently communications director for Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS), is the new national press secretary for the American Action Network and Congressional Leadership Fund. Assuming his role as communications director is Lee Modesitt; After three years as deputy chief of staff and legislative director to Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Ryan Berger is joining the NRSC as policy director; Adam Croglia is leaving DC to be a senior counselor for public affairs at Eric Mower + Associates; From The Cipher Brief, Mackenzie Weinger is joining National Journal as policy editor; The Daily Caller defense reporter Saagar Enjeti has a new role as White House correspondent; Sarah Culvahouse Mills recently joined the Glover Park Group as a vice president. Before this, Mills was director of media relations at the Heritage Foundation; From The Daily Caller, Alex Pfeiffer is leaving to join Fox News’ hit show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” as an associate producer; BGR group has promoted Erskine Wells and Ryan Long to director of its commerce, infrastructure and energy arm and co-director of the its health care practice. William Crozer has also been promoted to vice president of government affairs; James Hong, most recently manager of creative and digital at the American Financial Services Association, recently joined SKDKnickerbocker as an associate for digital strategy; Obama alum Fred Wong recently joined the National Association of Counties as communications director. He was previously the public engagement advisor at USAID and before this, spent time at the White House in President Obama’s Presidential Personnel Office; NPR has a new co-host for its hit show “All Things Considered:” Mary Louise Kelly, current national security correspondent, will assume the spot with Audie Cornish and Ari Shapiro; And finally, congrats to C-SPAN editorial director Paul Orgel who was recently named as the next executive committee Chair of the Ratio and Television Correspondents Association. Orgel will serve as vice chair for the next year and assume his work as Chair in 2019. For the past twenty years, Orgel has been a driving force at C-SPAN, leading its presentation of Congress and covering the some of the most complex legislative issues and events. He’s also a host of the network’s “Washington Journal.” #DoBigThings
