Weather: What do this weekend and your refrigerator have in common? They’re both going to be cold and potentially full of beer. Clear and sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday will lure you outside as you peer through the window of your tiny basement apartment and frigid temps in the low 40s will be there to slap you in the face when you open the door. Lows will dip into the 30s and 20s in the evenings and with no rain on the radar, your weekend can continue to be lit even when the sun goes down.
Awesome events you can attend this weekend: Our new favorite pop-up Cherry Blossom Pub isn’t a gift from Japan, but it is a gift from the spring gods and you should check it out like, yesterday; DC will have more Wizards this weekend than a Harry Potter book series. The Wiz will play the Toronto Raptors tonight and the Orlando Magic on Sunday – tickets are still available!; Calling ALL talent! Whether you’re a singer, a comedian, a dancer or you think you can do all of those things, the crowd wants to judge you tonight at Busboys and Poets; The opening reception for two new exhibits at the Touchstone Gallery will take place tonight at 6p: Common Threads by April Rimpo and Scribbles: an Urban Art Series by Lisa Tureson; Get loco with Los Lobos and Matt Andersen tonight at the Hamilton! Show starts at 8p and doors open at 6:30p; The Washington Ballet presentation of Giselle at the Kennedy Center opened this week and will run through Sunday; All you need to know for CarnaZouk DC 2017 is that the dress code is “colorful and scandalous.” Oh, and that it’s tomorrow night at Bossa in Adams Morgan; The Washington National Opera performance of Champion opens at the Kennedy Center on Saturday with performances through March 18; Act fast! It’s the final weekend to see the Arena Stage production of Watch on the Rhine; And keep the weekend going for another night at “Blue’s Monday” at Republic in Takoma Park with DC blues artist, Robert Lighthouse.

Congratulations to Jonathan Wald on his new job as senior vice president of programming and development at MSNBC. Wald previously served as a producer at CNN; Stephanie Fontenot Marrs makes a move from the office of Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) to the NFIB; T.J. Birkel, most recently director of federal government affairs at Mastercard, has launched a new firm called Upland Strategies. Before joining the private sector, T.J. served in both the offices of former Sen. Mike Johanns (R-NE) and former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE); Ian Russell, most recently with the DCCC, makes a move to Beacon Media; FOX News Channel has added David Bossie, Citizens United president and President Trump’s former deputy campaign manager, as a contributor; Amy Travieso joins the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as director of congressional and public affairs. Travieso previously worked as deputy chief of staff in the office of Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX); Derek Gianino also joins the Chamber as director for international policy. Before this, he served as director of strategic initiatives at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition; Nishat Kurwa joins Vox Media as its first executive producer of audio.
