Correspond This, White House.
The night that has been marked on every Washingtonian’s social calendar with permanent marker (err.. maybe just marked on its Google calendar) is upon us.
No, it’s not inauguration. No, it’s not the Fourth of July. Yes, the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Dinner is finally here.
If you don’t know what we’re talking about, we’ll assume it’s because you just moved here from a far-away country. If that’s the case, go back – and take our next president with you. This year’s White House Correspondents Dinner will take place this Saturday, April 30th, and the week’s fabulous parties will pave the way before the red carpet even rolls out.
The dinner, hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association, combines the world of Hollywood with the world of Politics for one dynamic weekend in DC. (Think: the really cool popular girl in high school who’s forced to hang out with her assigned Chem lab partner who spends more time trying to combine molecules than weekend plans.)
The glitz and glam begins days before with parties so exclusive, Jay Gatsby would need to be on the list to get in (Leo’s good though). If you’re susceptible to star shock, take your meds because the weekend’s events will set your head spinning.
Headlining this year’s dinner is Larry Wilmore, Host of “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” Easy to remember.
Donald Trump won’t attend because his private jet has other places to be, but that’s not going to stop Wilmore from waging comedy war on Trump from afar. We’ll have to look in the archives for what Trump’s reactions will likely look like, albeit in front of his huge TVs.
FamousDC will not be square, but rather there – covering every move that Washington makes and rubbing elbows with the rich, the famous and the famous.
