If you’re sticking around DC for the Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Festivus holiday, here are some weekend fun ideas that will keep you busy. ‘Tis the season!

Thursday

Blue Banana Sports & Rock Bar – stop by this Columbia Heights sports bar for their one-year anniversary celebration. There’s no cover and a two hour open bar from 6-8pm. Bonus: if you post your favorite Blue Banana moment on their Facebook wall, you’ll have a chance at a $50 bar tab for NYE! Tell my buddy Jamie Hess I sent you!

Herman’s Cane and the Ballistic Mistletoe Singers – head to Wonderland Ballroom tonight (8pm) to see my buddy Justin Herman’s band holiday performance. Hate I’m going to miss this!

L2 Lounge – this chic Georgetown bar plays host to the second annual Winter Solstice Party at 8pm. Arrive before 10:30 to avoid door cover and enjoy holiday cocktails all night.

George – also in Georgetown, this venue will be hosting the third annual Floggin’ the Noggin’ party with complimentary eggnog until midnight.

Friday

Sham Holiday Party – head to the Warehouse Loft for this Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah celebration that includes 3 DJ lineups. $10 (ladies free til midnight)

Very Merry TEKA Christmas – BPM festival host Saeed Younan returns to his Friday night D.C residency at Lima Lounge for a special Xmas party.

Ozio’s Christmas Party – head to the Ozio rooftop and catch DJs Barbari and Alex Niko.

Zei Reuinon Holiday Party – Josephine plays host to this Zei Club remembrance that features the old club’s resident DJ Pete Moutso and trance DJ George Acosta. Get your free admission here.

Saturday

Not a lot going on anywhere on Christmas Eve but that’s okay. We can all use one night off the party circuit, eh? Enjoy the day with family and friends or volunteer to help the needy.

Sunday

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – one of my favorite things to do on Christmas Day post-breakfast and mimosas and presents is to catch the latest movie, and this one is at the top of my list. Check out movie times on Fandango and don’t miss it.

James Brown Death-Mas Holiday Bash – head over to the Black Cat for this third annual party celebrating all things James Brown. Talk about a Funky Christmas.

Chinese Food + Movies + Beer – head to Sixth & I Historic Synagogue for an all-you-can-eat spread of kosher Chinese Food, a sample of He’Brew beers and movies – “The Princess Bride,” “Spaceballs” and “The Big Lebowski” – at three different times.
