Don’t miss out on the chance to witness an only-in-DC moment this Sunday, July 10, when fifteen spectacular young women take the stage for the chance to be crowned Miss District of Columbia 2011.
Among the contestants vying for the crown will be three Congressional staffers and two White House staffers who can presently be found strolling the Capitol’s corridors of power when they’re not showcasing their talents on the catwalk. Past Miss DC winners include MBA candidates and two medical students, proving that the pageant’s contestants haven’t been getting by on looks alone.
Miss DC 2011 will be chosen this Sunday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Arena Stage by an all-star panel of six judges including DC restaurateur and former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn. Tickets are $40 and available at www.arenastage.org
Miss DC Executive Director Teri Galvez also highlights how Miss DC’s contestants mirror the District’s diversity. The contestants are not only multicultural and talented, the winner stands a strong chance of taking the District to the winner’s circle at the Miss America pageant in early 2012.
“Miss DC is a strong contender every year at Miss America – in the past five years we’ve had one top five and two top tens. That’s an excellent track record for a city smaller than San Francisco,” said Galvez.
