Which political party is better at using the tubes?

It’s the been the age-old question for the past several years and frankly, one that keeps us up at night.

Democrats claim they continue to dominate online.  Twittering Republicans argue while that was the case, it’s no longer true.

Case in point: The Republicans, led by Rep. Eric Cantor’s technology team, recently threw down the gauntlet. Cantor, with the help of Rep. McCarthy, just released a fancy new blackberry application.  [it’s colorful]

House Republican leaders have introduced a colorful BlackBerry app called WhipCast that lets members and their aides check talking points and bill facts, follow votes, plan floor action and even keep up with rumors, polls and late-night comedy.

And while we think following bills and votes in real-time is all well and good, we’re mostly interested in what kind of "rumors" the new app will provide. We’re also wondering if it will have a photo page that features pictures of Jeff Flake .

Just how awesome is this sucker?  Awesome enough to change the world — at least Rep. McCarthy thinks so.

They can be anywhere in the world and see at their fingertips what’s happening in Congress and what the arguments are.

We’re not quite sure if it’ll be a huge hit in North Korea, but the real question is: Are the Democrats impressed?

Nope.

Kristie Greco , communications director for House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, said Democrats stay in touch with their members through the Web, e-mail and direct contact. She sounded unimpressed by the Republicans’ new gadget.

By the looks at some of the Democrat sites, it seems as if they also stay in contact via smoke signal.  On the other hand, they don’t really need to respond with a technology of their own, after all, they do have this… [click]
