Famous 5: Hillary Alvaré
Hillary. You’ve heard that name quite a bit lately, but fear not, we’re bringing you a newer, fresher version. If you haven’t heard the good news, Hillary Alvaré has just joined the FamousDC team as the Director of Partnerships so we partnered with her to bring you our newest Famous 5!
What do you do for fun?
I really love being active, so in my free time you can find me taking barre and yoga classes and taking long walks around the city. If I’m not doing that, I’m either trying out new restaurants or hanging out with family and friends.
What’s a place in DC you haven’t visited yet that you’d like to?
This is a tough one – I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job at trying DC traditions at least once. I’d have to say going to Rose’s Luxury. I’ve been dying to go there since I moved here and have yet to make it there!
What’s something about you people might not know?
That I grew up surfing – my dad is a huge surfer so I would always go with him. I’m definitely not great at it, but I can do it. I once surfed a wave twice my height and truly thought I was going to die. I just visited Costa Rica, which was amazing and I’d love to surf there one day.
Who’s your favorite person that sits to your right at the FamousDC office?
Well seeing that the only person that sits to my right is Kathryn Lyons – and she wrote these questions – I’m gonna go with Kathryn Lyons.
Your turn! Ask yourself a question and answer it.
Well, if you can’t already tell, I love going out to eat so, “What’s your favorite restaurant in DC?”
My favorite by far is Le Diplomate. I will make reservations there up to a month in advance if I know I’ll be in town on the weekends just in case I feel like going (don’t worry I always cancel if I don’t end up making it). Duke’s Grocery and Acqua al 2 are close seconds though!
