Glow On With Your Bad Self
Looking to get lit this weekend? This Friday, the SMITHSONIAN at 8 event series is hosting “Glow in the Garden” from 8-11p at the Smithsonian Castle. Bring your friends to this unique after-hours Smithsonian tradition to experience live music, interactive glow-in-the-dark activities, and colorful performances.
“This year’s ‘Glow in the Garden’ theme was chosen to showcase the Haupt Garden and Smithsonian Castle in a new light,” SMITHSONIAN at 8 Program Coordinator Lauren Rosenberg tells FamousDC. “It’s also a way to explore a wide range of topics – many covered in Smithsonian exhibits and collections – that connect to bioluminescence, constellations, artwork, and other things that glow.”
You’ll be able to put your bar trivia knowledge to the test by identifying items that glow at the Smithsonian while sipping on dazzling specialty cocktails. Listen to DJ Trayze and DJ Smudge light up the beats and go beyond Boomerang with the GIF photo booth sponsored by OM Digital.
The event is expecting to draw a crowd of over 500 people. Reserving this extra luminous VIP ticket grants attendees access to an open bar and small hors d’oeuvres at 7 p.m. “We have a different theme each year—past themes have been inspired by the garden’s fall colors, Alice in Wonderland, and the Jazz-age,” said Rosenberg.
In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the Smithsonian Castle. For tickets and further information, visit www.SMITHSONIANat8.com or call 202-633-3030.
