Gosh, what should we do this Saturday?! Hmmm, how about a board game or a puzzle? Right…ok, nerd. Seriously, we’ve got the perfect plan for your Saturday, so listen up!
Shinola – the Detroit-based watch and leather goods line – is hosting an epic (pet friendly!) block party at its DC flagship location in the heart of hoppin’ 14th Street, and it comes fully equipped with amazing food, ice cold beer and nationally renowned live music. Oh, and entry is totally free. Need we say more?
From 3-8 p.m. at their DC store location, enjoy an awesome neighborhood party that’s fitting for families, pets and even your one really loud roommate. The good times culminate with a very special headlining performance from fellow Michiganders (and seriously [like, seriously] amazing musicians) Greensky Bluegrass. Earlier on, the festivities kick off with live DJ Ben Chang on the boards along with bocce ball and corn hole sets for everyone to enjoy. As evening draws near, local legends the Howard Gospel Choir take the stage to add some soul to the mix before Greensky Bluegrass carries the night away.
They’ll have food trucks set up to keep us fed and some sweet treats from Dog Tag Bakery because why not? Dog Tag Bakery is a local, nonprofit veteran job-training organization and cafe whose veteran-made baked goods are no joke. Calories and community service?! We’re in.
That’s not all. The party also serves as the official launch of Shinola’s newest collaboration with FEED, a hunger relief charity. FEED + Shinola is a limited run of 170 (bad ass) tote bags with proceeds benefitting Forgotten Harvest in the Detroit Metro Area. The purchase of each $195 bag will provide 100 meals to children and families in need.
Shinola is celebrated for reviving American industry and ingenuity in the heart of Detroit with its unique line of impressive watches and everything in between, from bicycles to cool leather goods. Now they’re being admired for throwing a damn good party. We know a thing or two about that, and Shinola definitely gets our endorsement.
WHEN: This Saturday, 3-8 p.m.
