Ray Lewis
The legendary linebacker, Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens released an autobiography, “I Feel Like Going On: Life, Game, and Glory” drawing on his childhood and faith as inspiration for a record-breaking career. Ray is known for his hard hits and unrelenting athleticism, but the Hulk Hogan of football was actually quite personable when we hung out with him at his book signing at Politics and Prose this week.
We don’t easily get starstruck, but when you’re standing in the presence of two-time Super Bowl champion, two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and thirteen-time Pro Bowl veteran, we had to wonder whether the man before us was actually human.
With Ray’s incredible fan base and leadership qualities we bet he’d have a pretty good shot at leading say, I don’t know, America? So, only half kidding, we asked him if he’d ever consider jumping in the race. We’ll take his chuckle of a response as neither confirmation nor denial of the possibility. Watch out Kanye, you could have some competition in 2020.
Telling the tale of a difficult childhood and unexpected fame, Ray Lewis’ story is a journey to be remembered.
