Last night, Famous DC attended the GOP 2016 Kickoff Happy Hour hosted by Google and Facebook. Held at city-chic bar and restaurant Silo, located in Mt. Vernon Triangle, the event was teeming with GOP social media pros.
Guests bellied up to the open bar, snacked on everything from oysters to flatbread pizzas, and mixed and mingled as they stayed away from the ever-dropping temperatures outside. Drinks were flowing with guests drinking everything from PBR to Jack and Ginger as the bar filled to near-capacity closer to 7pm.
Attendees commented that the neighborhood would never have hosted such an event five years ago, showing that DC’s vibrant night-life is always changing. Silo features some great graffiti art on their walls and the event was highlighted by great chalk drawings featuring Google, Facebook, and a birthday shoutout to Abraham Lincoln.
The event was great, and we’re excited to see all the great things to come from GOP digital efforts as we head into the 2016 elections.
You might think it’s a little early to think about 2016, but the GOP scene is right on course. At Silo, Google and Facebook came together to toast Abe Lincoln’s 206th birthday and to congratulate and hear updates from Tom Newhouse, the NRCC’s new Digital Director, and Tim Cameron, the NRSC’s new Chief Digital Strategist. Abe served from a selection of bold beer and fruitful wine as young Republicans discussed their party’s prospects for the next Presidential.
