For a little end of the year holiday cheer, we pondered the most D.C. things possible, and reworked them into lyrics. For maximum enjoyment, sing along to the chorus of “12 Days of Christmas” as you read.
♫ This year at Christmas, DC gave to me: ♫
Twenty four small plates,
Twenty two “Step Back Doors Closing,”
Twenty one intern selfies,
Twenty broken metro escalators,
Nineteen motorcades,
Eighteen folks in seersucker,
Seventeen tourists standing on the left,
Sixteen bow ties,
Fifteen #DCsunset Instagrams,
Fourteen Red line disasters,
Thirteen Food Trucks on Friday,
Twelve gin rickeysssssss,
Eleven hours watching House of Cards,
Ten traffic jams,
Nine classy name drops,
Eight more restaurants on 14th street,
Six (…thousand) website failures,
Five silver line stops,
Four red pandas on the loose,
Three hours at the DMV,
Two Portuguese water dogs,
and a budget deal where few disagreed. ♫
Ho ho ho, this post made possible with the help of Almost Famous, Ladies Who Lobby and SP+KC.
