Meet Will Simon.
Will Simon is bringing some DC pride to our every day fashion choices with his District inspired Socks. Currently, Simon is working to fund his new fashion sock line, LINEDWEAR, on Kickstarter. As an early investor we hear you’ll be the first to receive a pair as they are already in the process of being manufactured. When we asked Simon what inspired his venture, he responded by noting that even though we may all be from elsewhere, everyone is incredibly proud of the place we now call home. We couldn’t agree more. Below is the quick story behind LINEDWEAR and how you can get a pair of these amazing socks.

1. TELL US, WHERE DID THE INSPIRATION COME FROM FOR LINEDWEAR?
I started playing around with the design about six months ago. DC has some of the most recognizable monuments and buildings in the world, and while I was on my balcony one night overlooking the city, I got the idea to create something that captured the great DC skyline on something everyone could wear. I did some research and I found that so many people, including myself, love cool socks. And with guys like RGIII making unique socks even more popular, landing on socks just made the most sense. I’ve also found that having socks gives me a lot of freedom to make countless color combos possible – I have about 15 more colors coming! I started with DC sports themed socks because after living here for a few years, I noticed how DC has some of the most passionate and dedicated fans in all of sports. Even if you’re not originally from the area, people still love supporting the great teams here. And even if you’re not a sports fan, there’s a sense of pride living in DC, it gives people a great way to express their patriotism and support for not just the teams, but the city, too.
2. YOU HAVE A KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN THAT ENDS THIS WEEK – WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF FOLKS FUND LINEDWEAR AND YOU REACH YOUR GOAL?
I think we have one off the most unique incentives in all of KICSTARTER. If folks back our KICKSTARTER campaign, we’re going to take care of them FOREVER. This means that every time we release a new style or color combination, we’re going to send each of our backers that style for free. We want to make sure we thank our backers, the people who make these socks possible, are taken care of, and this is our way of continuously saying thank you. Also, reaching our goal will allow us to increase our inventory, and bring 15 more color combinations here to the people of DC. We have everything from UMD colors, to Pink which will go to help great causes like Breast Cancer Awareness.
3. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST COLOR COMBO?
The first color combo was the White Sock with red, white, and blue color scheme. My softball team was red, so I made these socks to match our team. Of course, the colors fell right in line with Nats, Wiz, and Caps colors, too, and I eventually expanded to a blue sock. I’m also going to release a “rock the red” caps color scheme before the season, so look out for that!
4. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE DISTRICT?
When I’m not designing socks, I’m watching Ancient Aliens or something else on the History channel, so I’m a huge history nerd. Being able to wake up and take the metro to go see the Constitution, or go to some of the best museums in the world is something that never gets old to me. It definitely makes up for the $6 beers!
5. IF OBAMA CALLED AND WANTED TO KICK IT FOR A DAY, WHAT WOULD YOU TWO DO?
