Only three weeks into June, the D.C. heat (well, mostly the D.C. humidity) has everyone thinking about getting out of town. Friday afternoons will soon be less about hitting up happy hour and more about packing the car for a summer road trip. Some will head to the Eastern Shore. Others will opt for a drive to Shenandoah. But two bloggers, Nate Hindman and Joe Epstein, are setting out on a different kind of trip.
This summer, Nate and Joe, are traveling across the country on the “ultimate” summer road trip, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce-sponsored “On the Road with Free Enterprise” tour. Kicking off with a big launch event at the Nats game this Wednesday night, the tour is a new project from the Chamber that’s aimed at telling the individual stories of American businesses and entrepreneurs. After writing about small businesses and local startups from behind a computer screen for both the Huffington Post and Thrillist, Nate and Joe are now driving to more than 20 cities across the country to actually “be a part of the story.” The two will make stops at famous landmarks, visit with business owners face-to-face, and participate in local events. Along the way, they will document their experiences with blog posts, photos, and videos on the Free Enterprise website.
To help support the Tour, GM has supplied Nate and Joe with a brand new 2013 Chevy Traverse, which they’ll use to hit the road this Thursday. T-Mobile is also providing phones, service, and other tools to help the two stay connected along the way.
You can catch up with Nate and Joe this Wednesday at the Nats game, or follow them all summer at FreeEnterprise.com or on Twitter via @FreeEnterprise.
