Like all good blogs, media outlets, YouTube celebrities and list makers, we’ve jumped on the bandwagon and decided to take a look back at 2012. It was a big year for us; new look, new writers, more parties, more ducks, same great features, our always amazing readers and, of course, the best city to live and work in made these past 12 months an adventure. Here’s the FamousDC Top 20 in 2012:

FamousDC Political Academy Awards

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year. No, not FebruANY…Oscar season. But speaking of six inchers, we decided to take a page out of Anthony Weiner’s playbook and whip it out…It being our take on the Political Academy Awards. Because if Hollywood and Washington share anything, it’s our mutual desire to self-congratulate.

So, we asked ourselves: what if Old Man Oscar gave some golden love to the political animals that pay our rent and drive us crazy? Just like the real Oscars, you’ll see some old favorites and some rising stars. And while there’s no big musical number (except for Kotecki who hooked us up), there will be some witty dialogue and perhaps some surprises.

To keep things interesting, we’re only revealing the nominees. The last thing this city needs is more reason to inflate a could be winner’s ego.

The Nominees:

  • Herman Cain, for “Grandstand and Deliver” one man’s journey in and out of politics in 30 minutes or less.

One Thing To Do in DC This Summer

New to DC this Summer?

Recently, FamousDC was asked “What is one thing I should do this summer?” by a DC newcomer.

We decided to open it up and ask some true Washingtonians for their recommendations. We couldn’t come up with just one thing as there’s nothing quite like a DC summer filled with brunches, paddleboats, rooftops and recess.

October 11, 2012: The Fourth Estate Took Over.

FamousDC’s 2012 Media Ticket

Fellow Americans, it has been four years since our last election. In those four years our country has experienced great highs; the death of the Osama bin Laden, the premiere of Glee, the rollout of the new Congress.gov and the Nats making it into playoffs. But we have also experienced the lowest of lows; the Salahi divorce, NFL replacement officials, the closing of the Hawk and Dove, Cap Lounge burning down [again] and Metro’s continued single tracking.

As November approaches, we’re often reminded that nothing is more vital to the future of our country than who we elect into office. So while the campaign rhetoric heats up these next few weeks, ask yourself: Are politicians really the best suited to straighten out our country? Or can we do better? What if instead of electing politicians, we allowed the Fourth Estate to run the country? The people who know more about the political process than those actually running for office.

Without further ado, we present to you the 2012 FamousDC Media Ticket:

President: Rick Klein, ABC News

President-elect Klein has the Ivy League pedigree that Americans expect in the Oval Office. And he will be elected into office based on his simple promise to America: baseball card designs should go back to the simpler designs of the 80s. Instead of ruling the country by following polls and listening to cable news pundits, President Klein will base all economic decisions on the monthly prices published in the Beckett magazine. A father of two and a supporter of the arts, he will lead America back to greatness. The United States of America can be Topps again and our potential will finally reach the Upper Deck.

President Klein is a Yankees fan. Yankees win. Winner.

Feasting Famously: Tucker Carlson
By the Hungry Lobbyist

Some might know Tucker Carlson as the conservative knight in pastel bow-tie armor who battled the fire-breathing Ragin’ Cajun’ himself, James Carville, when they co-hosted CNN’s Crossfire. Others know him for his political commentary on networks such as MSNBC, and still ongoing, Fox News. However most recently, people will likely think of his wildly successful online journalism effort in launching The Daily Caller, a political news website reported to easily average over one million visitors every month.
