When celebrities at your convention are few and far between, it’s no surprise that this kind of thing would happen.

Legendary GOP strategist Karl Rove was seen getting the rock star treatment inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum as the 2012 Republican National Convention officially got underway.

As delegates began to file in for the official gaveling in of the event on Monday afternoon, a group of female delegates and other members of the GOP faithful spotted Rove and sprang into action befitting the fans of teen pop-idol sensation Justin Bieber. The women cheered and squealed as they swarmed around Rove, and began debating who would get their picture taken with him first.

Rove smilingly obliged for the photos, before darting off to another spot in the arena.
