Thursday
Congressional Baseball Game – this annual battle between Democratic and Republican members of Congress is always a fun time. Grab your tickets NOW and be at Nationals Park by 7:05pm for the first pitch.
Orange Crush Party – if you haven’t been to Wilson Tavern yet, don’t miss this BYOO (bring your own orange) party. From 8pm-close, your orange will get you half off your first crush and you can pretend you’re in Ocean City, MD at the infamous Harborside Bar & Grill – well-known to beach revelers as the “Home of the Orange Crush.”
Sunset Rooftop Party – I always enjoy the Beacon Hotel’s Rooftop Sky Bar and you can too from 5pm-12am at this Art Soiree party featuring a live piano performance by Christian Dallas Blakely. DJ Fotifo will be on decks.
Friday
Liaison Pool – head to the pool at the The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel, anytime after 5pm for poolside cocktails. It’s free! You can also get a day pass to the pool from 10am-5pm for $20 or participate in their “tone, taste, tan” yoga/Art & Soul breakfast event which comes with the day pass. Tell them I sent you.
Kaskade – head up to Baltimore to catch this amazing and supa hot DJ perform at the 1st Mariner Arena. 7:30pm.
Poutine Party – the Canadian Embassy, the Eat Wonky food truck and Rhino Bar have joined forces to host this first-time-ever party in honor of Canada Day (celebrated July 1) and the country’s favorite snack – French fries topped with gravy and cheese curds. For $25, you get access to an all-you-can-eat poutine bar and unlimited drinks, including Chocolate City and Yuengling beers and Jose Cuervo, Bacardi and Smirnoff cocktails. #fab
Saturday
Mother Trucker – if you can stand the heat, head to this weekly food truck/pool party at Capitol Skyline. Tickets are $15 (not including food/drinks) and you can spend the day taking dips in the pool.
Tarara Winery – it will be 100 degrees Saturday so why not take a break from the concrete and heat and head out to Tarara Winery for a “Night of Americana Rock” from 6-9:30pm. Scott Kurt & Memphis 59, the Walkaways, Wes Tucker & the Skillets will be performing. Be sure to pack a picnic – you can buy wine onsite.
Jesse Malin – head to The Hamilton to catch this rock/punk artist who used to front the hardcore trio Heart Attack and infamous glam punks D Generation. Having shared the stage with everyone from the The White Stripes to Counting Crows, The Hold Steady to Lucinda Williams, I can safely say Malin is a do-not-miss.
Sunday
Port City Brewery Reopening – head to Alexandria to celebrate the expansion and re-opening of the brewery’s tasting room with their first “Port City Pint Party.” Festivities include live music by local musician Justin Trawick, food from the Big Cheese truck, and a full tasting flight of Port City beers.
