It’s time for the weekend *again* and score – it’s also a holiday weekend thanks to George Washington. President’s Day is always a fun time to get your history on in the DofC, spend your time partying every night since you can sleep in on Monday, or celebrate Mardis Gras a few days early. Whatever your flavor, I’ve got a great weekend lineup for you. Enjoy!

Thursday

Bonerama – my love for all things New Orleans continues with this show at the Hamilton. Grab your tickets immediately as last week’s Dumpstaphunk show sold out and this one could too. It will be a hot show!

Fe-BREW-ary with Samuel Adams – stop by The Mighty Pint anytime after 6pm for $1 Samuel Adams Alpine Spring brews and enter to win a snowboard from Alpine Ski Shop, a Trip to Alpine Mountain Ski & Gold Resort and more.

Friday

Art & Soul – a little birdie told me that this Capitol Hill restaurant is now offering moonshine. Being from NC, this caught my attention immediately. If you’re smart, you will get by there ASAP and enjoy the swoon-worthy food. This place continues to wow and they have excellent service.

Lost Society – the post-work happy hours continue at this U Street hotspot. Drop by anytime between 5:30-10pm to hear DJ Parham spin his latest lounge house mix. DJ Gavin takes over at 10pm with tribal house.

Saturday

National Geographic – if you have an interest in seeing the Oscar-nominated foreign-language films, head to the NatGeo headquarters anytime over the weekend for a variety of viewing times.

Dub Nation Vol. 33 – it’s rare that I feature events in Baltimore (not a massive fan of the hike) BUT Soundstage will be featuring a night of serious music with DnB great Dieselboy, Numbernin6 and Big Chocolate. Tickets are $15 via Ticketfly and doors open at 8pm.

Aeroplane – The Belgian DJ duo was the first headlining act at U Street Music Hall and returns to spin more worldly dance music. With Cassian and DJ Provoke.

Sunday

Daylight – head over to Liv for this party that will be celebrating the life of “Soul Train” host Don Cornelius and Whitney Houston. Not sure I can think of a better place to spend my Sunday night!

Monday

Library of Congress – need a dose of history? Then head to the LoC to grab touristy pictures of The Jefferson building’s Main Reading Room. The open house will be open from 10am-3pm.

Pearl Dive Oyster Palace – have the day off? Spend the afternoon with an all-you-can-eat feast of crawfish, suckling pig and corn bread, plus all-you-can-drink Abita beer. $60.

Tuesday

Bayou – we all know that music is at the heart of many Mardi Gras celebrations so be sure to head down to Bayou at noon for its day-long affair with funky brass band Yamomanem, hot jazz fromLaissez Foure and blues and rocks from White Loafer. Tickets are $25, which includes an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Clarendon Mardis Gras Parade – this annual parade features floats, live music and beads in the streets of Clarendon. 8pm.

Bourbon Street Bash – drop by Rumors for a Mardi Gras party full of beads, masks, live music, a Cajun wing-eating contest and really cheap drinks.

Wednesday

Grateful Dead Tribute – I know, I know – Wednesday is NOT the weekend, but I couldn’t help giving the scoop on this party at The Mighty Pint. Who knew my friend, one of the Mighty Pint owners, Reese Gardner, was a Dead Head? Given that I am too, I order you all to get there on Wednesday night. Will be a hot time.

Big Sam’s Funky Nation – since I’ve extended your weekend this far, you should know about this concert at the Hamilton which will be the perfect option for both celebrating outstanding New Orleans music and to continue the Mardis Gras fun in DC. Grab your tickets now!
