Catwalks rarely come to mind when thinking about Washington, DC. Yet that was not the case last night at the second annual Geek 2 Chic event at Bloomingdale’s in Chevy Chase. Merging all my favorite things – fashion, technology and men – I eagerly watched twenty-five of DC’s hottest geeks strut the latest fashions as part of Digital Capital Week.

Produced by Mark Drapeau, the director of innovative engagement at Microsoft, Geek 2 Chic benefits the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), which provides programs for low-income teens seeking a future as business and technology professionals.

Members of the DC tech community that participated as models included FutureGov’s Dominic Campbell, Thrillist’s Leo Schmid, NBC News’ Jim Long, GeniusRocket’s Peter LaMotte, Venga’s Winston Lord, Facebook’s Andrew Noyes, HelloWallet’s Justin Thorp, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Nick Schaper.

The show also introduced NFTE graduate Jabious Williams who founded Williams Art & Photography with the help of the program.
