College football is in full swing and the DC area is a mecca for alumni gatherings on game day. Whether you’re in DC or VA, we’ve got you covered with my top five spots for your crowd AND some extras!
The best DC bars for college football:
Crystal City Sports Pub (twitter: @CCSportsPub) – with more than 100 TVs and three floors, you will certainly find a spot to catch your team’s game. Lots of southern schools represented here including Georgia, Auburn, S.C. and my personal fave – UNC! – but you will certainly see others like rivals Iowa and Iowa State.
18th Amendment (twitter: @18thAmendment) – this Capitol Hill bar welcomes LSU alumni group for games and cheap Abita beer ($12 pitchers).
Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (twitter: @PQST) – A recent upgrade brings the TV total here to 30 which you can also enjoy on the year-round patio. Oklahoma State, TCU, Georgia and South Florida represented.
The Mighty Pint (twitter: @TheMightyPint) – lots of Pennsylvania love at this bar including Penn State games, Pennsylvania beers and other regional specialties.
The Exchange (facebook: page) – DC’s oldest saloon, which boasts 23 TVs, including a six-foot HD projection screen, is a great spot for Notre Dame and Florida State fans on game days.
Honorables: Rhino, Union Pub, Bar Louie, Black Finn, Ragtime, Rhodeside Grill, Finnegan’s, Mason Inn, The Bottom Line, Carpool
