Washington Business Journal takes a walk down memory lane. [Redskins QBs]
They say a quarterback is like a football team’s CEO.
And in Washington, there may be no closer-watched CEO than the man calling the shots on the field for the beloved Washington Redskins. When you succeed in the position, your name lives forever in local sports lore: Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theismann, Doug Williams. When you fail, well, let’s just say you usually leave town quietly.
Unfortunately for local fans, there’s been plenty of the latter since Dan Snyder bought the team in 1999. Much has been written on the sports pages about Snyder’s attempts to revive the team’s fortunes, most notably through big name acquisitions.
