Well deserved. [NY Times]
The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is named for one of history’s most distinguished satirists and has, since 1998, been awarded to noteworthy comedians like Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Neil Simon and Bill Cosby. But somehow, it just got a little classier: Will Ferrell, the “Saturday Night Live” alumnus turned star of hit films like “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” will be the 14th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts said on Thursday morning. Mr. Ferrell said in a statement that he was “truly honored to receive this distinction,” adding: “I will now begin cultivating a Mark Twain-esque mustache in anticipation of the event.”
