Remember when the Democratic National Committee and the White House pitched a fit after two top communications aides were caught whooping it up in Georgetown and a Member of Congress got physical with student camera operator? Remember how they were all complainy about guerrilla tactics and privacy and all that?
Well, looks like they’ve change their mind.
Mike Allen is reporting that the DNC is set to roll out The Accountability Project, which will be “devoted to citizens uploading content from political events, including audio and video — a central resource to hold Republicans accountable for misleading claims, lies, and unseemly behavior.” Unseemly behavior…like putting a sleeper hold on a college student?
In the announcement launching the project, DNC Research Director Shauna Daly is asking citizens to “please help fight back against Republicans’ shadowy tactics”…by employing shadowy tactics.
We’re all for catching folks acting dumb, saying stupid stuff and generally making fools of themselves. Without that, we wouldn’t have a blog. But we’re also against double standards. No doubt The Accountability Project didn’t get built overnight. So the DNC must have known they were going to launch this thing while they were getting all high and mighty defending their own from the same “shadow tactics” they were building an entire network to support.
Not that we’re bitter or anything.
Anyway, why not head on over to the Accountability Project. We hear Boehner and Cantor just left Gandell’s with ping pong balls and solo cups.
