Downtown D.C. was chill and still on Sunday night, except at the Edelweiss Calcagno show at Hudson. The event — ably organized by Sandro and Tati — was a dizzying collection of leggy blondes from the former Eastern bloc and men in velvet blazers and pointy shoes who love to buy them drinks.

The works ranged from turquoise muddles to boldly-colored abstracts that would have seemed cutting-edge in an American Psycho-era New York or an Embassy Suites in Dubuque. A few pieces, mostly the black and whites and a well-rendered sunset, stood out.
