After nearly 40 years in business the much-beloved Black Rooster Pub on L Street poured its final drink. The Rooster lost its lease to the Peace Corps and for the past two weeks has been packing up and preparing to auction off its furnishings.

Condemned inmates on Death Row await a call from the Governor. The Black Rooster got its call from DC Council member Jack Evans. After receiving an email from longtime Rooster patron Chuck Thies, Evans advocated on behalf of the Rooster and negotiated a reprieve.

Result: the Black Rooster will crow again.

Reports say the drinks will start flowing within the next two weeks.
