We love The Washington Post’s “Scene In” video series, but felt it necessary to do a little fact check on this week’s entry, considering it featured a legislative assistant … and Politifact didn’t beat us to it.
About a minute into this video we are introduced to our legislative assistant, who makes a couple of statements.
The first statement: “I don’t have a low self esteem, but I consider myself nerdy cute.”
Famous DC declares this statement factual. While we can’t vouch for her self-esteem, she does have this Elle Woods vibe about her, and we’ll go ahead and consider that “nerdy cute.”
The second statement: “I think nerdy is kind of the new hot”
Famous DC declares this statement false. Sorry, Elle, but nerdy cannot be the new hot because hot will always be the new hot. For example, that’s why it’s called “The Hot File” and the “Hot Button” instead of “The Nerd File” or the “Nerd Button.”
Got any other statements that seemed to slip past Brooks Jackson and the people at Factcheck.org? Feel free to send them our way…we are here to educate.
P.S. Anyone else notice that the “cool hunter”/”trend spotter” girl with the umbrella at the beginning of the video is rockin’ the Mark Penn book. Tisk tisk, that’s soooo 2007.
