The H Street Country Club Famous Drink Off
The good folks over at the H Street Country Club were nice enough to extend an invitation to a couple of our FamousDC tipsters.
Here is their first hand account of the festivities:
We were asked to come hang over a few cocktails with H Street’s Master Mixoligist Gina Chersevani as she unveiled the County Club’s new beverage menu. This worked out great, being that it was the Friday that we don’t get paid (also known as every Friday).
We were thoroughly impressed by what they had to offer.
The H Street Country Club is spot on when it comes to mixing drinks that that:
- A. tastes great.
- B. are not so sugary that you go to bed feeling sick and wake up feeling even worse, and
- C. can even be enjoyed by the “average” male.
Key: They use fresh ingredients [even have herbs on the bar] and make their own fresh sour mix [No Mr. T’s in this bar] so it stands to reason that there are some sort of health benefits to these concoctions and if not they are still a lot of fun to drink.
Our Favorites:
- The Pimms Cup- Pimm’s No. 1 combined with strawberries, cucumber & ginger ale.
- In the Rough- Ketel One Vodka, Maraschino liqueur, pineapple juice, fresh sours & a dash of cherry bitters.
- In the hole- Coconut water mixed with Captain Morgan, pineapple & lime juice and finished with a dash of soda.
For those wishing to stick to your more traditional beverages, The H Street Country Club has a fully stocked bar with bartenders eagerly awaiting your order. [Full Drink Menu ]
By glancing at our almost undecipherable notes the next morning, [which read much like a Dan Brown Novel?] we’d say 100% great time!
Thanks to Ricardo and the H Street Country Club for the invite. We’ll most definitely be back for round two of drinks and golf. If you are one of the unfortunates that hasn’t been to the H Street Country Club, you are missing out. The drinks are amazing, the food is great and of course the mini golf was awesome. You can’t beat it.
And for anyone interested in learning the art of cocktail making that goes beyond your typical combination of energy drinks and German devil liquor, Gina teaches a class on the art of mixology.
Impress your mother-in-law this Christmas by handing her a perfectly mixed Champagne cocktail instead of that car key and can of Miller Lite.
