If you thought the shoeshine lady who camps out in the basement of Longworth was the loneliest person in the Capitol complex, you are sadly mistaken. Insert Arlen Specter, who’s in the middle of an identity crisis and can’t manage to say anything these days without it coming off as moronic.

At first after jumping to the Democrats, he projected a certain quippy ebullience, along with the regretful yet defiant confidence of his valedictory news conference as a Republican. What followed was a celebration with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden — "the Lone Ranger and Tonto…"
