There are a few things that we have never quite understood:

Pets.com
New Coke
Pepsi Throwback
And your latest site layout

Why is your stuff relegated to a two-inch wide column on the left hand side of the page?  And does the Atlantic ad on the right side really need to take up 1/3 of the entire page?

May we suggest you trying a layout like this .
