Here’s the worst kept secret ever: Don Henley doesn’t care for Republicans.
The latest proof:
Don Henley is suing a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in California, claiming he has brazenly ripped off two really popular Henley songs to push his campaign to unseat California Senator Barbara Boxer.
We barely finished middle school, but doesn’t a parody of a song fall under "fair use" in our copyright laws? From what we gather, this song isn’t exactly designed to compete against the original for commercial purposes – and if it was, we feel sorry for the original song.
Note: This is clearly the most exciting thing to happen to Henley’s career in the last 15 years [although Barbara Boxer is likely not happy that Henley has brought this much attention to her Senate race] – and because of that, we hope this brings him the fame and 21st century riches he so deserves.
