WINNER: @almacy
This battle never heated up like we had anticipated. At the end, Almacy had more of a presence and therefore walked away a round one winner. Here’s to hoping he raises the stakes for round two.
WINNER: @briandevine
At the end of the day, Devine just outworked Heritage’s online guru. [example here ] Devine also had a growing list of supporters even though he lacks followers by nearly three times. What put this match out of reach was the FrankLuntz endorsement. Job well done fellas – and thanks to @robertbluey for being such a good sport.
@katieharbath vs. @humanfolly
WINNER: @humanfolly
It’s terribly unfortunate that these ladies didn’t meet later on in the challenge. Both gals came out blazing with their tweets, but when it was time to crown the champion, @humanfolly finished the race stronger and had more endorsements. And while both ladies scored high marks for creativity, @humanfolly raised the bar. Anyone who claims that "San Francisco can steal my heart, but it can’t steal my orgasm" generally does well in competitions like these.
@matthewgagnon vs. @dcconcierge
WINNER: @matthewgagnon
Despite claims of a "master plan," @dcconcierge couldn’t even get herself reservations in the second round. @MatthewGagnon has opened up a can, and is the clear winner. His tweets run the gamut from awesome pet peeves to putting Seinfeld in its proper historical context . Also, if we ever have children, we think we’ll be parents just like Matthew and his wife . Bonus points for letting the world know what gets him excited . We gave no points for live tweeting 24. Nonetheless, @MatthewGagnon and his wife move on…but they won’t be eating with us any time soon.
Unfortunately for @dcconcierge, she just didn’t have time to participate. Better luck next time.
@ontheredline vs. @newmediajim
WINNER: @ontheredline
This match finally left the station, although the ride wasn’t terribly exciting. We know our good friends at @ontheredline will goose it for the next round.
@lizglover vs. @agfhome
WINNER: @lizglover
This competition was extremely close. When it was all said and done, Glover’s large online following and endorsements that came in via the FDC tip box helped push her over the top. Although @agfhome reached out for the DAG community endorsements, he didn’t get the help needed to push him over the top.
WINNER: @mikemadden
The Battle of the Mikes. Two Mikes enter, one Mike leaves. This match-up was referred to as VCU vs. UCLA and although Mike didn’t think he could pull it off, fortunately he had a lot of support. We hate to lose such a quality competitor in Mike Allen, but we couldn’t even get a lay-up out of him. Congratulations VCU Mike Madden and good luck in the second round.
@GlennThrush vs. @patrickruffini
WINNER: @patrickruffini
Ruffini, who most folks believe is the overall number one seed, cruised through round one. Thrush must have been too busy hat shopping.
