It’s that time again – the weekend is here, and holiday merriment abounds. Get out there and enjoy it DC!

  • Os Mutantes

Having emerged from Brazil’s 1960s Tropicalia movement, this bands mixture of traditional sounds and psychadelic rock has influenced some of the biggest names in pop and rock (see Talking Heads and Beck). The group reunited in 2006 after a three-decades hiatus and recorded “Haih Or Amortecedor,” in 2009. Check them out at The Hamilton.

If you’re on the other end of town, however, go by the White House and see the tree there, which hails from my lovely home state of North Carolina! Also a fab place to catch that perfect picture!

  • Simian Mobile Disco

This U.K. group always wows the club scene and you can catch them throwing down some hard-edged techno at Rock and Roll Hotel Saturday night. They will be touring in support of their fourth album, “Unpatterns,” which I hear it pretty hot.

  • Brasserie Beck

I have only met a few eggs benedicts that I didn’t like and Brasserie’s is certainly not one of them. Boasting yummy speck ham and a delish hollandaise, you do not want to miss it. Bonus: add some frites and Belgian beers to the mix. Yummies.
