Late Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 100. Heat index values as high as 105. West wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
UPDATE (3:54 pm): “gridlock near the White House, no traffic is moving, tourists are running around like drenched crazy people, lots of Boy Scouts getting rained on.”

We are all going to be stuck inside for the rest of the week, so we might as well try to have a little fun.

* ACCUMULATIONS… 10 TO 20 INCHES.
* TIMING… MID-AFTERNOON TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
* TEMPERATURES… TEMPERATURES NEAR FREEZING AT THE ONSET TUESDAY AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE UPPER 20S TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
* WINDS… LIGHT SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS TUESDAY BECOMING NORTHWESTERLY 15 TO 25 MPH WEDNESDAY.
