Late Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 100. Heat index values as high as 105. West wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

UPDATE (3:54 pm): “gridlock near the White House, no traffic is moving, tourists are running around like drenched crazy people, lots of Boy Scouts getting rained on.”
