Maybe We Should Let The Navy Run The Economy

Let’s see if we have this right:

1942: The US Navy seized Treasure Island from the City and County of San Francisco for the sum of $1.

Yesterday: Mayor Gavin Newsom announced the purchase of Treasure Island from the US Navy for $105 million.

Now, we aren’t math wizards here, but we think the federal government made a profit on this deal. We’re sort of shocked. Next thing you know you’ll be telling us that 12 inches of snow is gonna drop on our heads tonight. Oh.
