Political Poets Banned; Will Spit Hot Fire Elsewhere …

October 23, 2009

If there is one thing we like at Famous DC, it’s a good poem. And the only thing better than a good poem is spoken word performance of that poem. (You should see our rendition of Man From Nantucket…it moves people to tears)

Well, the folks at J Street felt the same way, so they invited a bunch of poets to have a spoken word panel on Israel (NOTE: It’s hard to find words that rhyme with Israel).

But apparently they didn’t do any vetting and the ole’ Weekly Standard had to lay the beat down on them by pointing out some pretty crazy anti-Israel things they have said. So, J Street decided to shut the whole panel down.

But the poets aren’t backing off. Two of the performers, Kevin Coval and Josh Healey, have channeled their inner Ja Rule and are holding their own poetic clap back slam session against J Street at Busboys and Poets this Sunday. We imagine it will look just like the Onyx video…only a lot lamer…cause it’s about foreign policy and stuff.
