Colombia [think South American country] is working hard to shake the image Pablo Escobar left behind.

In September, Colombia ’s official country image campaign, Colombia is Passion, will bring a piece of Colombia to the United States, with the “Discover Colombia Through Its Heart” cultural art exhibition. The exhibit features seven interactive 13-foot heart sculptures, each spotlighting a different facet of the country.

We’re not quite sure what “interactive” hearts are, but rumor has it that if you stare at them long enough, they’ll come to life and take part in some Q&A.  [no drug questions, please]

It’s important that we remind you this isn’t the Colombia Vincent Chase taught us about. This campaign was developed to promote the country abroad and encourage business investment, tourism and enhanced cultural relations with nations around the world. The logo of the campaign is a heart [coffee bean came in a close second], which symbolizes the passion of the Colombian people – the driving force that guides their creativity, determination, warmth and kindness.

We’re even told the main exhibit has some cool events like free Juan Valdez coffee and Wi-Fi in its Hospitality Heart at Union Station and live salsa music at Lincoln memorial on Sunday. More exhibit and event info here.

And speaking of Juan Valdez, if you want to meet him as badly as we do, you can do that September 14th & 15th – 12 Noon – 3 pm,  4 pm – 7 pm.

PS: Tell Juan FamousDC sent you.
