Even Norah’s Smile Can’t Dull the Pain

June 10, 2009

of MSNBC’s massive graphics FAIL this morning.

width="291"

Even the ridiculous backwards checkmark on the ballot is overshadowed by… sigh… the fact that, um, you… used the WRONG STATE.  That’s West Virginia.  Which — spoiler alert — is different than Virginia.  And we hate to pile on here, but you kinda had months to prepare for the result of the Democratic gubernatorial primary.  Just saying.

Despite the fact that the majority of West Virginia residents probably don’t know the difference , it’s safe to say that there are probably some Virginia residents who do.

MSNBC : The place for politics.  But not elementary school educations apparently.

    Almost heaven, almost Virginia.

  2. West Virginian on June 10th, 2009 11:50 AM

You’re right, the majority of West Virginia residences don’t know the difference. But the majority of West Virginia residents do. Apparently elementary school educations aren’t any more common at famousdc.com than they are at MSNBC.

  3. rowdygirl on June 10th, 2009 11:55 AM

MSNBC makes the error, but you bad mouth the people of WV ? What’s the reason for that?

We’re smart enough to identify an outline of our own state, thank you very much.
We can also recognize an idiot when we see one, too.

  4. Ajax W. Dahgue on June 10th, 2009 11:57 AM

Hey West Virginian…WTF are you talking about?!?

  5. Miles on June 10th, 2009 12:08 PM

    Ajax,

West Virginian is pointing out the article states, “…the majority of West Virginia RESIDENCES…” when it should say “…the majority of West Virginia RESIDENTS…”

  6. mikemcdon321 on June 10th, 2009 12:09 PM

Common…seriously? You don’t think folks in WV can tell the outline of their own state? Really didn’t see any reason to make a comment like that about the people that live there.

However; can you really expect anything else but half a$$ reporting from MSNBC?

As a lefty, that checkmark is perfectly legitimate.

  9. cjtony97 on June 10th, 2009 12:25 PM

…and the ONLY legitimate thing on that screen cap.

    LOL@ Rowdy Girl. Great comeback!

  11. James on June 10th, 2009 2:08 PM

Did anyone notice that the state is shown in mirror image. That is the reason the check-mark is backward. And I don’t live any where near W. Virginia.

  12. Bri on June 10th, 2009 2:23 PM

The state isn’t in mirror. I live on the western most point. Also, even the most toothless hillbilly will tell you WV isnt VA. You get tired of hearing, “West Virginia, is that near Roanoke?” First of all, Roanoke is IN western Virgina, so it wouldn’t be near it. Secondly, West Virginia is a completely separtate state. If I’ve explained it once, I’ve explained it a million times. I expect nothing less from MSNBC, though…idiots.

Hey MSNBC staff how does it feel to be to be “DUMBER” than the poor residents of West Virginia that you have been making fun of.

Go ahead and make fun of us. The more you pile on us the better we feel because we know that will ensure none of you LIB-TARDS will want to visit or relocate to our great state.

YOUR UNION CONTROLLED PUBLIC EDUCATION HAS FAILED YOU AGAIN

MSNBC – Most Stupid Noxious Bigoted Clowns – brought to you by government-controlled public education – Olbermann + Matthews+ Madcow = plant life that can move.

Oh dear, geography transpositon. The fact checker must have been on a coffee break in West Virginia.

  18. Linda F on June 10th, 2009 6:27 PM

I agree about the stupidity of mistaking WV for VA (my dad was from WV), but the backwards check is normal for lefties (which I am).

That’s West BY GOD Virginia to all you common folk.

Oh to be penned up in the confines of your Cities burgeoning with humanity: not knowing anyone, not looking anyone in the eye. Rats in a cage. Makes you mean, doesn’t it? Nothing like concrete to condition the spirit. Get up, race for public transportation, envelope yourself in silence and anonymity. Hey, let’s put the dog in a cage all day! He likes it! It teaches him to behave. Maybe drive to work. Inch along the eternal line of like-confined stressed and angry ants. Pop those Nexium/Nexii (?). Be perfect as your boss is perfect. Go home, fight about the bills and do it again tomorrow. Yeah, that’s living, baby!

As far as being on the receiving end of condescension, I like this side. You urban mudslingers have no idea what you are talking about. There is no saner and more reasonable, and civil, way to live than in West Virginia. Montani Semper Liberi!

I live in the Ozarks. I think West Virginians are urbane.

This will all be moot after Dear Leader, Kim Il Byrd reunifies Virginia.

No, James. Check your map. West Virginia is shaped exactly as depicted. Unfortunately, its neighbor, Virginia, is not identical. The M$NB-sh!t story was supposed to be about Virginia.

  24. Moonbattery on June 11th, 2009 9:45 AM

    Moonbat Media Fail…

Those who have seen maps of the United States will recognize the black shape looming next to Snora O’Donnell’s mannequin smile as West Virginia. Maybe it’s best that MSNBC sticks with moonbat propaganda, and leaves the news reporting to……
