Weed Smoking Martians Spamming Senate Employees

Posted on 18. Aug, 2008 by in Front Page, Interesting, News

Apparently there are pretty “dope” tips coming from aliens living on Mars.  Below is an IT security advisory sent to all Senate employees.

We have received reports of an increase in malicious e-mail traffic from foreign networks to Senate users.  These e-mail messages appear to come from major news organizations such as CNN and MSNBC and contain links to news stories.  If you click on one of the story links, malicious software is downloaded to your computer.  One recent example contained the subject line “BREAKING NEWS:  Martian Soil Fantastic for Growing Weed Says Nasa.”  These messages are not currently detectable by Senate anti-spam filters.

Apparently House staffers are smart enough not to open these ridiculous emails.  They have yet to be warned.
