Forget FISA, get me a drink with an umbrella in it

This week the Democrats made time for luxury living, but not so much time for our national security.Their excuse for omitting FISA [again] …
…the schedule was too packed.
”House Democratic leadership aides said late Tuesday it looked increasingly likely that floor action on legislation overhauling the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act would slip until next week … they cited a tight floor schedule for waiting until next week.” (CongressDailyAM, 3/5/08)
It’s true, the schedule was packed. Packed with things like authorizing lease agreements with luxury resorts.
This week Democrats did make time for a vote on H.R. 1143, legislation that authorizes a lease agreement between the Secretary of the Interior and the Caneel Bay luxury resort in the Virgin Islands.
To be fair, someone did their research and picked a very classy resort.
According to a brochure on its website, Caneel Bay touts itself as a “tropical haven” with its “low-key luxury,” “secluded white-sand beaches” and a “discerning staff [that] tends to your every need.”

Who can worry about terrorist surveillance when Obama and Clinton are in the race for the White House?

I for one can speak to the genius of keeping Caneel Bay the low-key luxury that it is.

Sadly republicans still think it’s okay to trample on the constitution to promote their war for oil. I’m not at all in a hurry to dish my rights over to this government.
