My tax money going for this ridiculous "culinary delight?" Well, what can I expect - my senators are Durbin and Obama! Why am I not surprised?

By the way, being retired, can I get a spokesman job for $106K + a year? And, I promise to be "non-partisan" and will only select those who are not BIG donators, just little ones!

Used to love getting Navy Bean Soup and Corn Bread at the staff cafeteria on the Senate side. Did it when I was young and traveling, the basement was open to the public back then. It was great, a union of North and South. Dirt cheap, tasty and historically meaningful.

you can always come over here and grab a bite of socialism at our cafeteria. Nothing healthy about the Mac and Cheese with the 4 square inch slice o' slightly melted cheddar on it.

Why does the guy who runs the cafeteria need a public affairs spokesperson (paid for by the taxpayers)?

Waste, Fraud and Abuse. Democrat style

I love it when Members place a sign on their office door establishing to whom the office belongs, the people of their district. I feel that it reinforces the fundamental concept of participatory democracy, alerting visitors to the fact that this is their government and accordingly, they should view it as accessible. When folks come to our office for a tour they typically ask for our recommendation about places to eat. We used to find some solace in our ability to recommend any of the Hill cafeterias, places that appealed to a clientele much like themselves: individuals who went on vacation instead of "summering", went to elementary school instead of "day school", never "prepped", but rather attended public high school, thought trust funds were some intangible benefit earned through being honest, and had never seen a private jet except on movie screens.

We could always tell them that the cafeteria was cost-effective and approachable. In other words, it, like the office from whence they came, belonged to them. It served food with which they were familiar, at prices that did not shock their conscience. While many doors on Capitol Hill may still have the sign, we now know that the ruling class of Llmousine liberals have taken over the cafeteria, replacing accessible and reasonably priced food with that of which most constituents have never heard. In my neck of the woods, we don't eat purple potatoes. It means they are ruined. I hope Chef Pelosi is happy, because she's made what was once a dining experience to which every Capitol Hill visitor could relate into something only someone from San Francisco could love.

These people are so out of touch. Middle America is still eating Kraft mac and cheese or bologna on wonderbread, hoping they can make their mortgage payments and THIS shi-shi cafeteria food is a priority?

The entire idea is a waste of tax-payer's money. It's laughable. And trust me - the folks in here are laughing.

Not to mention that they charge $1.75 for a thimble-sized cupcake. Perhaps they need the extra money to make up for their cups - I had to use three just to get a drink because they kept splitting their renewable resources seams.
